During the second session of our 59th Congregation, our guest speaker, Dr Paul Frimpong, a Senior Specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Acting Medical Director of the Sunyani Teaching Hospital, delivered a powerful message of guidance and inspiration to the graduands. He emphasized that success is built intentionally and shared seven transformative lessons to guide them on their journey ahead.

He reminded them that mentorship is essential, noting that many have already navigated the paths others aspire to follow. Drawing on continuous growth as a hallmark of personal excellence, he urged the graduands to pursue lifelong learning with dedication and sacrifice.

Dr Frimpong also highlighted the unpredictable nature of life, encouraging them to build resilience and rely on God’s strength when faced with the unexpected. Hard work, he stressed, remains non-negotiable, and staying focused on one’s goals is crucial for long-term achievement.

He further advised the graduands to honour and respect all people, because sometimes help comes from the least expected places. Above all, he encouraged them to let a good conscience lead their actions—choosing what is right and shunning what is wrong.

Concluding his message, he reminded them that their future lies in their own hands. According to him, the greatest limitations are often internally rooted in how one thinks and processes information. Changing one’s mindset, he said, can unlock limitless possibilities.

Dr Paul Frimpong is an alumnus of KNUST and a member of the pioneer class of 2012 at the School of Dentistry.
