UITS and HRDD holds workshop on the KNUST Promotion App for CHS Senior Members

KNUST Human Resource Development Division (HRDD) and the University Information Service (UITS) have held a stakeholders engagement workshop with the Senior Members (Academic) of the College of Health Sciences (CHS) on the new Online Promotion Application system. The workshop took place at the College of Science Auditorium on the 16th of June 2022.

Professor Christian Agyare, the Provost of the College of Health Sciences stated that the purpose of the workshop is to fulfillment of the Vice-Chancellor’s digital vision for KNUST. He also revealed that the HRDD and UITS are making presentations on the Online Promotion System to officially introduce the app and also seek new ways to improve the new online platform.

Mr. Benjamin Owusu Boampong, the Senior Assistant Registrar of HRDD, stated in his remarks that for the past year, the University management has been making efforts to go paperless and set the pace with the use of digital technology in the educational and administrative processes, of which the online promotion system is part.

Mr. Emmanuel Nii Okaidza Afful, the director of UITS described the app as an Online system that provides a seamless and easy application process with progress tracking, automated routing of promotion applications through the various levels, external assessment integration, and notification features.

Mr. Kojo Ankar-Brewoo, the Deputy Director for the Software Development Department of the UITS introduced the team who made the presentations on how the application works. Miss. Mary Lamptey a member of the UITS team presented on the staff application phase of the promotion app. She highlighted on the various fields to be filled and documents to upload by the applicant. Mary Lamptey explained how the application automatically takes note of time stamps hence the applicants can halt the application and continue anytime.

Emmanuel Mfum-Mensah, a Junior System Analyst took the Senior Members through the Workflow manager which does the routing of the application through the various authorities/ranks who will review the submissions made by the applicants.

The presentations were interactive and the Senior members made inputs and got their questions answered by the Director of UITS and the Senior Assistant Registrar of HRDD.
