World Oral Health Day 2026 Celebration at KNUST School of Dentistry
The World Oral Health Day was commemorated in grand style by the School of Dentistry, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), on Friday, 20th March 2026. The event took place at Auditorium B, Medical Village, and brought together an enthusiastic audience of Senior High School (SHS) students, university students, and invited guests.
This year’s celebration was centered on promoting oral health awareness and empowering young individuals with the knowledge and motivation to maintain good oral hygiene practices. The program featured a series of engaging and educational sessions led by experienced dental professionals and students from the School of Dentistry.
Participants were taken through comprehensive oral health education, where key topics such as proper brushing techniques, the importance of regular dental check-ups, and the prevention of common oral diseases were discussed. The sessions were interactive, allowing students to ask questions and gain practical insights into maintaining optimal oral health.
In addition to oral health education, the event included dental career mentorship sessions aimed at inspiring SHS students to consider careers in dentistry and other health-related fields. Speakers shared their academic journeys, professional experiences, and the opportunities available within the dental profession, providing valuable guidance to aspiring students.
The celebration also fostered a sense of community and collaboration, as participants from different schools engaged with one another and with dental professionals in an environment that encouraged learning and growth.
The KNUST School of Dentistry remains committed to promoting oral health awareness and community outreach, and the success of this year’s event reflects its dedication to improving oral health education in Ghana.
As the world continues to recognize the importance of oral health in overall well-being, initiatives such as this play a crucial role in shaping healthier futures for individuals and communities alike.
