Job Description: Part-Time Midwife for AIMPact Pilot Study

Position Title: Part-Time Midwife

Location: London (Hospital and Field Work)

Reporting to: Project Lead

Overview:

AIMPact is seeking highly skilled part-time midwives to join the pilot study focused on wearable technology and precision medicine. The midwives will play a key role in monitoring participants, collecting data, and sampling blood as part of the project’s focus on understanding the lived experiences and medical data of female participants. This position offers an opportunity for midwives to engage in innovative research, while also supporting their professional growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Collection & Monitoring:
    • Track and monitor readings from wearable devices worn by study participants.
    • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of health data, including participant feedback and device readings.
  • Blood Sample Collection:
    • Perform routine blood sampling from participants as required by the study protocol.
    • Ensure safe and sterile procedures are followed during blood collection.
  • Participant Engagement:
    • Engage with participants, including conducting regular check-ins to monitor their use of wearable devices.
    • Offer support and guidance to participants, particularly in understanding how to use their devices correctly.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Maintain an accurate record of participant data, including permanent addresses and relevant contact details to assist with device tracking and participant follow-up.
    • Assist in scheduling and coordinating follow-up visits, including the collection of data and samples.
  • Professional Development:
    • Support the study team in promoting the participation of midwives by linking their involvement to career progression, such as through promotional opportunities.
    • Provide feedback and suggestions to the project lead on improving participant engagement and data collection processes.

Requirements:

  • Midwifery Qualifications:
    • Must be a qualified midwife, licensed to practice in London or have transferable credentials.
  • Experience:
    • Prior experience in data collection, monitoring, and/or clinical trials is preferred.
    • Proficiency in blood sampling procedures, with a focus on safety and compliance with medical guidelines.
  • Skills:
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with participants.
    • Attention to detail, particularly in tracking and recording data.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team.
    • Proficiency with technology, including wearable devices, is an advantage.
  • Language:
    • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in an additional language may be an advantage.

Working Conditions:

  • Part-Time Commitment: Flexible working hours, with the expectation of availability for scheduled appointments and monitoring sessions.
  • Hospital & Field Work: Regular visits to the hospital and participant homes (if required) for blood sample collection and device tracking.

Remuneration:

Competitive, based on experience and the number of monitoring/sampling sessions.
