CHS-KNUST to collaborate with the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine on Erasmus+ Project
The College of Health Sciences of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on the 12th of February 2024 received a courtesy visit from a four-member delegation from the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (USAVM), Cluj–Napoca, Romania to discuss and facilitate the collaboration of the Erasmus+ KA1712022 Project.
According Dr. Cristina Daniela Pop, the project coordinator for Romania and an Assistant Professor at the Department of Parasitology and Parasitic Diseases from USAVM revealed that the Erasmus+ KA1712022 Project will be funding three (3) Academic Staff for a five–day visit and six (6) students for a semester study in Romania. She also revealed that her delegation is currently submitting a proposal for KA1712024 to hopefully receive more funding to support the initiative and extend it to more Academic Staff and Postgraduate students in order to allow them to have exchange programmes in Romania. Dr. Cristina Pop also stated that the project will be focusing on the education and training of Academic Staff, undergraduate and Postgraduate students in Veterinary Medicine.
The other members of the delegation were Anamania Ioawa Pastiu, Alexander Corduneanu and Andrei Ungur. They expressed their elation at the warm reception from the KNUST College of Health Sciences and were optimistic on the success of the project. The delegation from USAVM stayed in KNUST for five (5) days and during the period they explored the KNUST campus and organised workshops to introduce the Erasmus+ KA1712022 Project, how to apply and who is eligible for the programme. Also they trained and discussed subjects of interest in the field of Veterinary Medicine.
Professor Christian Agyare, the Provost of the College of Health Sciences applauded the initiative of the Erasmus+ KA1712022 Project and urged the delegation to embark on collaborative research and joint publication with the student and academic members of KNUST. He also asked them to support in Postgraduate training of Veterinary Students in KNUST since the School of Veterinary Medicine is an emerging force and will tap into the expertise to churn out more professionals to beef up the faculty members of the School.
