KNUST Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences holds an interactive meeting with Preceptors
The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences on the 18th December 2023 at the College of Health Sciences Conference room held an interactive meeting with preceptors to deliberate on how to improve the existing collaboration between the Faculty and the Preceptors and also gather feedback on various preceptorship training in 2022/2023 academic year.
Opening the meeting Prof Samuel Asare-Nkansah, the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences appreciated the efforts of the Preceptors for the immense contribution towards the training of the clinical Pharmacy student from KNUST. He asserted the Preceptors of the faculty’s unflinching support and commitment to the collaboration and “hence those organisations of such an interactive is a step in the right direction;” he added.
The meeting was well attended by the faculty members of the Faculty of Pharmacy and the representatives of the Preceptors. The notable issues discussed were the increment of the duration for the student’s engagement with preceptors, reporting and closing time for students, benefits or reward schemes for preceptors, the knowledge gap for students in interpreting laboratory results into conditions and drug dosage.
Climaxing the meeting, certificates of honour and appreciation were shared with the preceptors and major stakeholders in the Pharmaceutical industry for their immense contribution to providing clinical training to students.
