KNUST School of Dentistry Receives Equipment Donation

The KNUST School of Dentistry has received a donation of dental equipment from Mr. Sulemana Kamal, a parent of a first-year dentistry student.
The donation includes three Lingchen Dental Chairs, two additional compressors, and a mobile dentist element for outreach programs.
Dean of the School, Professor Alexander Oti Acheampong, expressed gratitude, stating the donation will significantly enhance the school's capacity. "If we can get more of these devices, it will help us admit more students and senior members," he said.
Professor Acheampong also highlighted the school's challenges since separating from the medical school, emphasizing the donation's impact on student intake and the learning environment. "This will help solve the challenge of student intake, as the equipment will facilitate teaching and learning," he noted

Provost of the College of Health Sciences, Professor Christian Agyare, underscored the university's commitment to improving the dentistry school's facilities to support increased student numbers. "The collaboration with the donor will continue," Professor Agyare stated.
He appealed to stakeholders, parents, and benefactors for further support, specifically to complete the dental clinic. "We want to complete the dental clinic and have about twenty of this equipment. We are appealing to our stakeholders to donate a dental chair with accessories," he said.
Professor Agyare urged students, technicians, and lecturers to maintain the equipment. He also thanked Mr. Sulemana on behalf of university management and encouraged further donations to the college's Endowment Fund.

Mr. Sulemana Kamal explained his motivation. "I see it as a social responsibility. The department needs it, and I want to compensate my kids who have completed," he said. He pledged continued support. "Whatever small the future support will be, I pledge to provide it," he stated.
