KNUST SMS Alumnus Donates Laptops to Support Legacy Project

Dr. Ebenezer Quainoo, a KNUST School of Medical Sciences (SMS) alumnus from the class of 1995, has donated five laptops to support the university's legacy project.
Dr. Quainoo, who runs a private practice in Baltimore, Maryland, was moved to contribute after learning about the school’s 50th anniversary and ongoing development efforts.
With the growing number of students at KNUST SMS, Dr. Quainoo recognized the challenges the school faces in terms of space and resources.
In response, he decided to donate the laptops and encourage fellow alumni to make similar contributions to help the institution.
Dr. Quainoo stated, “Everything costs money, everything needs funding. In my small way, I decided to donate five laptops to help out and encourage other alumni to do something similar. Together, we can help the university grow."

He also emphasized the importance of alumni involvement, saying, “It’s not just about financial support but also contributing human resources. Many of us want to help teach and offer our expertise. This is just the beginning.”
Accompanying Dr. Quainoo for the donation was Mr. Maurice Adu-Amankwah, a pharmacist from the 1993 graduating cohort.
Prof. Nicholas Titiloye, Head of the Department of Pathology, and Mr. Christopher Addo, the SMS Registrar, both acknowledged the significant impact the donation will have.
They noted that “the laptops will assist students during online examinations and support those who are unable to afford personal laptops”.
Support the legacy project by donating via the Chango app on your class platform or dial *887*5211# and follow the prompt.
The official launch of the School of Medical Sciences 50th anniversary celebration will take place on Thursday, April 3rd, 2025, at 9:00 am at the Great Hall.
