Professor Elaine Patterson, from the Ramapo College of New Jersey, has paid a courtesy visit to the Provost of the College of Health Sciences on the 25th February 2025 to share her experience and impact as a visiting lecturer to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) School of Nursing and Midwifery.

For over a decade, Professor Patterson has been visiting KNUST to teach the Foundations of Nursing in the MPhil programme and other nursing disciplines. Her contributions to the School of Nursing and Midwifery, especially in postgraduate education, have been highly valued.

Professor Christian Agyare, the Provost of the College of Health Sciences, expressed his deep appreciation for the long-standing service of Professor Patterson, the School of Nursing and Midwifery.

"Her expertise and commitment to the MPhil programme have made a lasting impact, and we are grateful for her continued support", Professor Agyare added.

Professor Veronica Millicent Dzomeku, Dean of the School of Nursing and Midwifery, also praised Professor Patterson’s contributions. "With her coming, she brings in a great experience from handling these kinds of programmes at Ramapo College of New Jersey over the years, and we are always very excited to have her around," she said. "Her work has been especially valuable in the MPhil and PhD programmes."

Professor Patterson expressed her continued joy at being part of the KNUST community. "I look forward to continuing my work with the university and reaching greater heights in my field, as well as contributing to the growth of the School of Nursing and Midwifery and the global world at large,” she added.

Professor Patterson earned her B.S.N. from Jersey City State College, and master’s degrees from New York University and Teachers College of Columbia University, where she also earned her Doctor of Education degree. She received certification in Midwifery from the University of the West Indies and Family Nurse Practitioner from Long Island University.
