College of Health Sciences and YPYC Host Leadership Transform Summit for Students

The College of Health Sciences (CHS) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in collaboration with Young Professionals and Youth Coalition (YPYC) has organised a leadership transform summit for the students at the Great Hall on 8th July 2023.

The summit, themed "Next Generation Leadership: Unlocking the Leader in You," brought together over three hundred (300) students and featured esteemed guests, including prominent figures such as Professor Ellis Owusu-Dabo (Pro Vice Chancellor-KNUST), Hon. Andy Okrah (President YPYC), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (Energy Minister, Ghana), Hon. Muntaka Mubarak (Member of Parliament, Asawase Constituency), Nana Baffour Agyei-Fosu Twitwiakwa II (Otumfour Anantahene) and among others.

The leadership summit provided a diverse range of talks and workshops such as; Career Development, Interviewing Skills, CV Writing, and Leadership and Monitoring Training.

In his address, the Pro Vice-Chancellor of KNUST, Professor Ellis Owusu-Dabo, stated that leadership begins with oneself. He shared his personal journey to admonish the students about the possibilities of achieving greater heights through mentorship and effective leadership.

Honorable Andy Okrah, the president of YPYC, emphasised the pressing need to nurture transformational leaders and forward-thinking individuals. He asserted that the quality of leadership significantly impacts societal contentment, urging the current generation to acquire leadership skills to shape and transform the future. Honorable Okrah took the opportunity to present awards to Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh and Honorable Muntaka Mubarak, for their outstanding leadership roles in their various disciplines.

The summit concluded with an interactive session where students engaged with the invited guests and resource persons, fostering meaningful discussions on career development and related subjects.
