Senior Lecturer from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine pays a Courtesy Visit to the College of Health Sciences, KNUST
On Tuesday, October 31, 2023, Dr. Justin Pulford, Senior lecturer at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and project team of the Participatory Approaches to Support Patient-Centred Sickle Cell Disease Management in Africa (PACTS) Project, paid a courtesy visit to KNUST, College of Health Sciences.
The Provost of the College of Health Sciences, Prof. Christian Agyare welcomed Dr. Pulford who was accompanied by Prof. Alex Osei-Akoto the Principal Investigator of the project and Aaron Kwasi Nartey the Programme’s Manager. Dr. Justin Pulford’s visit which spanned for three days was intended to encourage the application of implementation science methods and the building of institutional capacity. Implementation science methods are research approaches that focus on studying how to effectively and efficiently translate evidence-based interventions or programs into real-world settings. Implementation science is a cross-disciplinary field that can be used across the health sciences.
Prof. Christian Agyare commended the efforts of Dr. Justin Pulford in building the capacity of institutions through the Implementation of Science and methodology.
Climaxing the three-day visit, Dr Justin Pulford had a seminar with the senior members and postgraduate students of the College of Health Sciences on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at the College’s board room to introduce the PACTS Project, and Implementation Science training opportunities to the participants and the applying Implementation Research and Strategies.
