CHS visits Ashanti Regional Health Directorate

On February 24, 2025, the Management of the College of Health Sciences (CHS) at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) visited the Ashanti Regional Health Directorate to congratulate Dr. Fred Adomako-Boateng on his appointment as the new Director and to strengthen existing collaborations.
The delegation was led by the Provost, Professor Christian Agyare, and included Mrs. Regina Nuako, the College Registrar, Mr. Jamil Ibrahim Badu, the College Finance Officer and all the Deans of various Schools and Faculties and the Director of KCCR. The Deans/Director were Professor Veronica Millicent Dzomeku (School of Nursing and Midwifery), Professor Alexander Yaw Debrah (Faculty of Allied Health Sciences), Professor Akwasi Antwi Kusi (School of Medical Sciences), Professor Peter Agyei Baffour (School of Public Health), Professor Samuel Asare Nkansah (Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences), Professor Alexander Oti Acheampong (School of Dentistry), Professor Benjamin Obukowho Emikpe (School of Veterinary Medicine) and Professor Richard Odame Phillips(KCCR).
The visit aimed to enhance the long-standing collaboration between KNUST and the Ghana Health Service (GHS), a partnership that has been mutually beneficial over the years. Professor Christian Agyare expressed sincere gratitude for the support provided by the Ghana Health Service, particularly the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), to the College of Health Sciences (CHS). This support has been instrumental in providing hands-on training for health sciences students, who, in turn, contribute to KATH by assisting with various clinical tasks, further strengthening the partnership.
The Deans expressed their appreciation to the Regional Health Service Office for their continued support. They also shared their requests and explored potential areas for future collaboration with the Directorate. Dr. Adomako and his team gave assurance of their commitment to addressing the requests made by CHS. He also stated that the visit marked an important milestone in enhancing the partnership between KNUST and the Ghana Health Service, fostering ongoing collaboration to improve healthcare education and services both in the region and beyond.
