University of Tsukuba Delegation Visits KNUST College of Health Sciences to Deepen Academic Collaboration

A delegation from the University of Tsukuba, Japan, on 17th April 2025, paid a working visit to the College of Health Sciences (CHS) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to explore opportunities for academic collaboration and student exchange programmes. The visit marks a follow-up to an earlier engagement held in March 2025, reflecting growing interest in establishing strong academic ties between the two institutions.
The visiting delegates — Prof. Mizuho Fukushighe and Prof. Masao Ichikawa — expressed the Japanese government’s keen interest in fostering international partnerships, particularly in the areas of Nursing, Public Health, and Medicine. They emphasized the University of Tsukuba's openness to collaborations involving student and staff exchange programmes as well as joint research initiatives.
Welcoming the delegation, Professor Christian Agyare, Provost of the College of Health Sciences, expressed enthusiasm about the potential partnership. He assured the visitors of the College’s full support for such academic collaborations, describing them as beneficial for global exposure, academic development, and mutual growth.
Prof. Agyare further charged the KNUST International Programmes Office to initiate the necessary processes towards the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to formalize the collaboration. He underscored KNUST's commitment to internationalization and building strategic partnerships that enhance academic excellence and innovation.
The visit ended on a high note, with both institutions expressing optimism about the future of the partnership and the positive impact it could have on faculty, students, and the wider academic community.
