College of Health Sciences Celebrates Debate Team’s Victory in KNUST Inter-College Competition

The Debate Team of the College of Health Sciences (CHS), KNUST, has brought pride and honor to the College by winning the 2025 KNUST Inter-College Debate Competition. In recognition of this outstanding achievement, the team paid a courtesy call on the Provost of the College, Professor Christian Agyare, at the CHS Boardroom on Thursday, July 17, 2025, to present their award and share in the celebration.
Accompanied by the President of the Health Sciences Students Association (HESA), Samuel Tampanga Wepeah, the team was warmly received by the Provost alongside members of the College Management, including the College Finance Officer, Mr. Ibrahim Badu Jamil, and the College Auditor, Mr. Kennedy Hinneh.

In his address, Professor Agyare congratulated the team on their remarkable performance and lauded their dedication, intellect, and teamwork.
“We are very grateful for what you’ve been able to achieve,” he remarked. “I believe you’re going to sustain this and achieve more in the future. The expectation is that since you’ve won this, more trophies are expected to follow.” He also encouraged the students to remain prayerful and committed to their personal and academic growth, reminding them that success requires both divine guidance and hard work.
Mr. Kennedy Hinneh, the College Auditor, praised the team’s efforts and described the win as a proud moment for the College. He encouraged them to continue striving for excellence in all their future endeavors.
The College Finance Officer, Mr. Ibrahim Badu Jamil, also expressed his admiration for the team’s victory.
“Since the team has emerged victorious, you are now recognized as winners. Much is expected from you. Be consistent and maintain the standard,” he stated.
Speaking on behalf of the debate team, Kelvin Kwabena Asamoah Damptey, a postgraduate student in Epidemiology and Biostatistics and a key contributor to the team’s success, thanked the Provost and College Management for their continued support and encouragement.
“We are sincerely thankful for your recognition and belief in us,” he said. “On behalf of the team, I assure you we will continue working hard to bring another addition to the College’s trophy cabinet.”
The Provost commended each member for their role in achieving this milestone and emphasized the College’s commitment to nurturing excellence in both academic and extracurricular pursuits.
