The College of Health Sciences, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), extends its warmest congratulations to Professor Yaw Amo Wiafe on his appointment as Dean of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences.

Professor Wiafe is an Associate Professor of Clinical Ultrasound and Echocardiography at the Department of Medical Imaging, with over two decades of clinical imaging experience as a Generalist Sonographer and Echo Physiologist. He is professionally certified by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) and the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI). He is also a Fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography (FASE), a member of the British Society of Echocardiography, and registered with the Allied Health Professions Council of Ghana.

An alumnus of Monash University, Australia, Professor Wiafe holds a Graduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound, an MSc in Advanced Practice Ultrasound, and a PhD in Clinical Imaging from the University of Derby, UK.

His research bridges academic excellence and translational impact, focusing on clinical ultrasound surveillance, women’s health, cardiovascular health, and the application of artificial intelligence in medical imaging. Prior to this appointment, he served as Vice Dean and Head of the Department of Medical Imaging, where he demonstrated exemplary leadership and dedication to advancing clinical imaging education and research.

The College celebrates this well-deserved appointment and wishes Professor Wiafe continued success as he leads the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences to new heights of academic and professional excellence.
