Prof. Edward Tsiri Agbenyega

Provost (2011 - 2017)

I received my BSc in Human Biology from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana, and obtained a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MB.ChB) at the same University in 1982. I did PhD training in physiology at the University of Manchester (UK) from October 1987 - February 1991.

I am currently a Professor in the Department of Physiology in the School of Medical Sciences (SMS) and a Principal Medical Officer at the Department of Child Health, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) Kumasi, Ghana.  I am a seasoned researcher who currently heads the malaria research group in the Department of Child Health at KATH. Funding for my research has come from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) USA, the Welcome Trust, the World Health Organization, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), PATH-Malaria Vaccine Initiative (MVI) and the Gates Institute.
