The KNUST Department of Physiotherapy and Sports Science has organized a career talk for students under the theme, “Sports Business Professionalism” to prepare them for endless career opportunities in sports on the 10th of March 2023 at the Boadi Medical Village Block B auditorium.

The head of the Physiotherapy and Sports Science Department, Dr. Moses Omoniyi commended the students and management (stakeholders) of the organization of such an event. He noted that the organization of such career-oriented talks is an initiative of the Vice-Chancellor of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Professor Rita Akosuah Dickson, and the university management to shape the students for the job market. He encouraged the students to learn from this edition of the career talk and always be prepared to do better in their various fields of interest through the knowledge they have gathered.

The keynoted speakers for the event were Mr. Kwame Opare Addo, the communications director of Accra Hearts of Oak, Mr. John Akwasi Adu, the CEO of Bibiani Gold Stars, and Mr. Collins Atta Poku, a sports journalist at Sompa FM. They highlighted the importance of sports exercise, science, and physiotherapy in the economy of the world, the lives of mankind, and the vast opportunities in the sports and physiotherapy field. Mr. John Akwasi Adu, the CEO of Babiani Gold Stars encouraged the students to take up sports and physiotherapy seriously as their course of study strife for excellence because it will define the impact of their career in the world.

Mr. Collins Atta Poku in his speech admonished the students to take the study of sports science and Physiotherapy out of the classroom to the practice field, the Division 1, women's Division and the premier league, citing football of Ghana as a big business gap for Sports Scientist and physiotherapists. He also encouraged the students to position themselves well with their expertise in order to be marketable in the business of Sports Science and Physiotherapy.

Climaxing the event, the students engaged the speakers and other dignitaries in an open forum on the related theme and how they can break into the mainstream of their career, and how to create a business out of sports and physiotherapy.
