The Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (FPPS) has organized a one-day orientation for newly admitted postgraduate students on the 30th of January 2024 at the Faculty’s Conference Room. The orientation was designed to help these students get familiar with the academic and professional aspects of their upcoming journey at FPPS.

Setting a positive tone for the orientation programme, Prof. Samuel Asare-Nkansah, the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences warmly welcomed the new students and urged them to put maximum effort into their academics, he also assured the students of the Faculty's dedication to their success.

Throughout the programme, several senior members of FPPS discussed relevant topics. Prof. Eric Boakye-Gyasi from the Department of Pharmacology explained various aspects of the programs offered at FPPS. Also speaking at the orientation, the deputy director of the School of Graduate Studies - KNUST, Professor Poku-Boansi, in his remarks mentioned various bottlenecks when it came to students’ thesis submission and processing. He assured the students of an effective system that has been put in place to manage thesis submission which has been made simpler and more manageable.

Other speakers from FPPS covered essential topics like managing time effectively, presentation skills, and understanding ethical research practices. These discussions were aimed at providing the students with the requisite knowledge they need to succeed in their studies.

The day concluded with a tour of the University's Central Lab, allowing students to see the research facilities firsthand, which was led by Prof. Edmund Ekuadzi.

Undoubtedly, the orientation program represented a pivotal point in the academic journey of the incoming graduate students, equipping them with essential knowledge, academic strategies, and professional skills, setting the stage for their academic and professional success. The faculty remains committed to fostering an enriching and conducive educational environment for its students.
