KNUST Faculty Of Pharmacy And Pharmaceutical Sciences Interacts With Preceptors Of Pharmaceutical Marketing Electives
KNUST Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (FPPS) on the 18th of January, 2023 interacted with Preceptors of Pharmaceutical Marketing electives to deliberate on how to properly structure and organize experiential training programmes in marketing for fifth-year Doctor of Pharmacy students.
The programme brought together pharmaceutical industry players and faculty members to highlight and discuss marketing field experience areas and proposed topics for the training of the students.
The Provost of the College of Health Sciences, KNUST, Professor Christian Agyare in his remarks clarified that an experiential training programme is organized for fifth-year Doctor of Pharmacy students who have a keen interest in pharmaceutical marketing and would want to pursue that after their training. The field experience allows the students to interact, understudy, and work with seasoned marketing representatives and tap from their vast knowledge and experience. "The program strongly counts on the experiences and skills of preceptors in the grooming of our students," he added. Students are often able to make informed choices and clear perceptions after their field experience.
The Faculty acknowledged the unique structures in every company and strongly submitted to them. The faculty outlined a guide for preceptors to aid in the field experience with the students through the following areas and topics; preparations for a typical day in the life of a medical/marketing representative, searching for a suitable facility or client; marketing a product; communication in marketing; maintaining client relationships; prospects and challenges of medical /marketing representation, and clearing the myths about medical /marketing representation.
The meeting climaxed with a dinner and networking session with participants expressing satisfaction with the outcomes of the points and suggestions made towards the experiential training.
