Over 18,566 students from 128 institutions participate in modernized examination system

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) School of Nursing and Midwifery has successfully conducted computer-based examinations for 217 affiliated nursing and midwifery institutions across Ghana. The exams, held from 2nd to 4th July 2025, involved more than 18,566 students and mark a major step forward in KNUST’s broader strategy to modernize the conduct of academic assessments.

This achievement represents a significant milestone in the School’s commitment to embracing digital transformation in health education. The nationwide computer-based exam was carefully planned and executed to ensure efficiency, fairness, and a seamless experience for all participating students.

A key component of the success was the proactive deployment of IT personnel to all exam centres. These technical teams were on the ground throughout the sessions, providing real-time support to students and ensuring all systems operated smoothly. Their presence helped resolve technical issues on the spot, reducing disruptions and enhancing the overall integrity of the exams.

“This exercise demonstrates our readiness to adopt technology-driven solutions in health education,” said leadership from the School. “We are proud to have delivered a modern, efficient, and student-friendly assessment system that meets international standards.”

The implementation of computer-based testing not only improves the reliability and speed of assessments but also prepares students for the growing use of digital tools in healthcare environments.

The success of this initiative sets a precedent for future digital transformations within Ghana’s nursing and midwifery education sector and solidifies KNUST’s position as a trailblazer in academic innovation.
