KNUST School of Nursing and Midwifery Hosts Workshop to Enhance Computer-Based Examination Standards

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) School of Nursing and Midwifery, in collaboration with the E-Learning Center, has successfully organised a two-day capacity-building workshop aimed at enhancing the quality and effectiveness of Computer-Based Diploma Terminal Examinations for Health Training Institutions (HTIs) across Ghana.
The workshop, which is taking place from 13th to 15th May 2025, brought together examiners from various HTIs to equip them with the necessary skills and tools to excel in setting standardised computer-based examination questions.
Participants were taken through a comprehensive training covering key areas such as:
- How to Set Good Questions
- Using Artificial Intelligence to Generate Questions
- Formatting of Questions
- Identification and Correction of Common Errors on the Examination Platform
- Uploading and Setting Up Questions on the Examination Platform
The sessions were designed to improve the quality, fairness, and technical accuracy of examination questions, ensuring a smooth and reliable examination process nationwide.
In his keynote address, Professor Christian Agyare, Provost of the KNUST College of Health Sciences, reaffirmed the College’s commitment to supporting the effective implementation of computer-based examinations. He emphasized the need for examiners to uphold high standards of integrity, be security-conscious, and cooperate fully to ensure the conduct of free, fair, and credible assessments.
“The transition to computer-based examinations is a major step forward, and we are dedicated to ensuring its success. We urge all examiners to embrace the change and work together to maintain the integrity of the process,” Professor Agyare stated.
Participants described the workshop as insightful and impactful, commending the organisers for the hands-on approach and the relevance of the topics discussed.
The initiative marks another milestone in KNUST’s ongoing efforts to digitise education and promote innovation in teaching, learning, and assessment within Ghana’s health education sector.
