The visiting students, Ms. Mafalda Cruz Scheven and Ms. Ashvi Pavlin Patel, are to commence a six-week experiential learning programme that will immerse them in Ghana's healthcare system, nursing and public health practice, cultural heritage, and community life.

They were warmly received by the Dean of the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Prof. Mrs. Veronica Dzomeku, together with the Vice Dean, Dr. Philemon Amooba; the Head of the Department of Public Health Nursing, Dr. (Mrs.) Abigail Kusi-Amponsah Diji; the Programme Coordinator, Dr. Adwoa Gyamfi and Administrative Assistant supporting the programme, Ms. Emmanuella Bemah Asamoah.

Addressing the students, Professor Matthew highlighted the significance of the exchange programme, noting that the partnership between KNUST and the University of Michigan has become a hallmark of international academic cooperation over the years. She emphasized that the programme not only enhances professional and clinical learning but also promotes intercultural understanding and lasting global connections among future healthcare professionals.

Welcoming the students, Prof. Dzomeku described the programme as a testament to the enduring partnership between KNUST and the University of Michigan.

"For more than ten years, this exchange has created opportunities for students to learn beyond borders, appreciate diverse healthcare systems, and build lasting professional relationships. We are delighted to welcome you to KNUST and look forward to the impact this experience will have on your personal and professional growth", she said.

In a joint message, the School’s leadership encouraged the students to embrace every aspect of the experience, build meaningful friendships, engage and enjoy the clinical placements, community health activities, food, language and dance classes, and visits to tourist sites.

Over the years, the KNUST-University of Michigan Exchange Programme has strengthened ties between the two institutions and contributed to the development of globally minded healthcare professionals. As the latest cohort begins its journey, the School of Nursing and Midwifery looks forward to another successful season of learning, cultural discovery, and enduring friendship between Ghana and the United States.
