Physiotherapy and Sports Science Department in collaboration with it’s students association, the Physiotherapy and Sports Students' Association embarked on a 2-day campus outreach and sports competition dubbed “Ampe Expo” to create awareness on the essence of encouraging physical activities, exercise and incorporating our indigenous games into our daily lives. The inception of this event was through the findings of a research conducted by the department on Ampe. Ampe is an indigenous Ghanaian game played mostly by children. This was the perception until research on Ampe was conducted at the College of Health Sciences, KNUST. The research revealed that Ampe is good for individuals of all ages and it has positive health benefits on the human body. This research showed how Ampe helped reduce blood pressure, body weight, BMI, heart rate, balance, and coordination.
