As part of a collaboration between the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research in Tropical Medicine (KCCR) and the Institute of Medical Microbiology, Immunology, and Parasitology (IMMIP) of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn - Germany, staff from the College of Health Sciences, KNUST participated in an Erasmus exchange programme from 23rd April to 7th May 2022.

The Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility is founded by the European Union and is intended to enable the participating working groups to offer more joint teaching concepts and to establish Structured Exchange Programmes for Students, Teaching, and Science-Support Staff. Erasmus European Union Funds provided financial support for the Erasmus+ Staff Mobility Exchange Program.

The following individuals were selected to represent the College of Health Sciences for the exchange programme:

Teaching Staff

  1. Prof. Alexander Yaw Debrah, Dean, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences
  2. Prof. Benjamin O. Emikpe, Dean, School of Veterinary Medicine
  3. Dr. (Mrs.) Linda Batsa Debrah, Senior Lecturer, Department of Clinical Microbiology

Non-Teaching Staff

  1. Mrs. Benedicta Kwakye, Faculty Registrar, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences
  2. Ms. Mary Agyeman, Principal Administrative Assistant, Department of Medical Diagnostics, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences

Some of the activities carried out by the Science-Support Staff included the following:

  1. Training on the use of Trello

Trello is the most user-friendly project management solution.  Its intuitive and familiar drag-and-drop Kanban-style task management interface helps everyone on the team visualize task progress throughout the pipeline. Administrators were able to appreciate the need to track team projects, highlight tasks underway, show who tasks has been assigned to, and detail progress towards completion.

  1. Training on the use of Confluence -

Confluence is a wiki-based collaboration platform that helps teams communicate and share knowledge more effectively.  With the use of Confluence’s Team calendars add-on, one will be able to capture project requirements, assign tasks to specific users, and manage calendars all at once.
