The University of Utah will join the School of Medical Sciences (SMS) at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on July 11, 2025, to celebrate two major milestones: 20 years of collaboration between the institutions and the 50th anniversary of the School of Medical Sciences.
The celebration will feature a presentation of 2025 community research highlights, a roll call of continued collaborative activities, among other activities.
As part of the visit, the University of Utah team brought national and university flags to mark the occasion.
Representatives from both universities held a meeting to discuss the planned events and future collaborations.
The University of Utah delegation included Prof. Ty Dickerson, Assistant Dean of Global Health Education, and Prof. L. Scott Benson, a lecturer at the University of Utah Health.
They met with the Vice Dean of SMS, Dr. Fred Stephen Sarfo; SMS Registrar, Mr. Christopher Addo; HOD of Pathology, Nicholas Titiloye; HOD of Clinical Microbiology, Prof. Alex Owusu-Ofori; and HOD of Physiology, Dr. Michael Ntim.
According to Prof. Ty Dickerson, Assistant Dean of Global Health Education, “Prof. Daniel Ansong shared the golden jubilee activities, and we want to see how we can contribute to make the 20th and 50th anniversary celebrations a success.”
During the meeting, the Vice Dean of the School of Medical Sciences, KNUST, shared the outline of the 20th anniversary and the Golden Jubilee lined-up activities, seeking ideas on how the University of Utah could contribute as a long-standing partner.
