The College of Health Sciences (CHS) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) welcomed a distinguished delegation from the West African College of Physicians (WACP) on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. The visit was part of the reaccreditation process for the university's Postgraduate Training Programme in Community Medicine.

The accreditation team was comprised of three eminent physicians: Dr. Benjamin Uzochukwu, Dr. Adinma D. Echendu, and Dr. Marcellina Y. Ijadunola. Their mission was to assess and evaluate the Community Medicine postgraduate program to ensure it meets the standards and requirements of the WACP.

The program, designed to train postgraduate residents in the field of community medicine, emphasizes practical and academic excellence, with its key training sites located at the University Health Services and the Suntreso Government Hospital in Kumasi.

Leading the local coordination of this critical reaccreditation effort is Dr. Arti Singh, a senior lecturer at the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. Dr. Singh also serves as the training coordinator of the WACP Kumasi Chapter and has been instrumental in steering the program’s development and compliance with the College’s standards.

The reaccreditation visit marks a significant step in ensuring the sustained quality and recognition of KNUST’s postgraduate training in community medicine, reinforcing its commitment to developing public health professionals equipped to address the region’s evolving health needs.

Officials from CHS expressed their appreciation to the visiting team and reaffirmed their dedication to continuous improvement in postgraduate medical education in line with international best practices.
