Prof. Obed Brew Advocates AI Integration in Healthcare Education at the 11th Summer School

Professor Obed Brew form the KNUST Department of Pharmacology has highlighted the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in redefining the roles and competencies of healthcare professionals. Delivering the keynote presentation at the College of Health Sciences (CHS) session of the 11th KNUST Summer School, he emphasized the need for structured strategies to effectively integrate AI into healthcare and clinical training.
Speaking on the theme “The Impact of AI on the evolving roles and competencies of healthcare professionals,” Prof. Brew outlined key measures to guide AI adoption within the health sector. These include developing formal curricula and competency frameworks, designing targeted training programmes, building trust in AI systems, and promoting AI literacy, ethics, and leadership across disciplines. He also stressed the importance of evaluating AI-related education and outcomes to ensure regulatory compliance and track progress.

Held on 22nd October 2025 at the Boadi Medical Enclave, the session brought together senior members of the College of Health Sciences as part of the decentralized activities of the KNUST 11th Summer School. Participants also engaged in a hands-on session that explored the practical application of AI tools in clinical and academic settings.
