CHS Freshers Urged to Uphold Discipline and Professional Ethics
Freshers of the College of Health Sciences (CHS), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), have been urged to uphold discipline, good ethics, and exemplary conduct as they commence their training as future health professionals.
The advice was given by the Provost of the College, Professor Christian Agyare, during the 2026 Freshers Orientation Programme held on Thursday, 8th January 2026. He emphasized that discipline and ethical behaviour are essential requirements for professional training and critical to obtaining and maintaining professional licences in the health sector.
Professor Agyare welcomed the newly-admitted students and encouraged them to take their academic work seriously, noting that their conduct throughout their stay at the University would shape their professional careers and public confidence in the health professions.

The orientation featured a series of presentations by senior officers and resource persons of the University. The College Registrar, Mrs. Regina Nuako, delivered a presentation on the history, vision, mission, and core values of the College, as well as its structure and the rules and regulations governing life on campus.
Students were also taken through issues relating to university examinations, assessment, and conduct by Professor James Oppong-Kyekyeku. This was followed by an introduction to the University Library by Mr. Michael Sakyi-Boateng, who highlighted the importance of effective use of library resources for academic success.
Other sessions focused on university accounting systems, financial discipline, scholarships, the Students Loan Trust Fund, information technology services for academic work, and the maintenance of university facilities. A presentation on academic purpose and self-assessment, titled The 360 Scholar: Am I in the Right Programme, was delivered by Dr. Herman Addae.

The programme also featured an interaction with students during an open forum session, allowing freshers to ask questions and seek clarification on issues affecting their academic life. A message of solidarity and encouragement was delivered by the President of the Health Sciences Students’ Association, Prince Amoako.
The orientation was brought to a close with concluding remarks by Professor Christian Agyare, who reiterated the College’s commitment to nurturing competent, ethical, and globally competitive health professionals.
The College of Health Sciences remains dedicated to providing a supportive and structured environment that promotes academic excellence, professionalism, and responsible conduct among its students.
