Veterinary Services Directorate in collaboration with World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH), World Health Organization (WHO) & Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) organized a 2 day training workshop from 8th February to the 9th February 2024 in School of Veterinary Medicine - KNUST, Kumasi on the theme Antimicrobial Use and Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) using the newly developed training manual.

The participants were taken through seven (7) modules: AMR in Animal Health, Drivers of AMR, Bioacculation & Biosecurity, AMR in Aquaculture, Role of Laboratory & Case Management.

The KNUST School of Veterinary Medicine offered lecturers as facilitators led by the Dean, Prof. Benjamin O. Emikpe, Dr. Benjamin Nuertey and Dr. Kofi Afakye of WHO & FAO respectively supported the training. Dr. Benjamin Kissi Sasu, a Veterinary Officer of National Food Safety Laboratory also presented on the Role of Laboratory in AMR.

Participants of the workshop were Veterinary doctors, Veterinary Technologists and Senior Animal Health officers from the field, clinics, fish health unit and laboratories in Ghana.
